ARUMUKA CHENDOORAM
ARUMUKA CHENDOORAM
I. Arumuka Chendooram is a God-Given Classical Preparation in Tamil Maruthuvam (Siddha Medicine). In olden days, every Siddha Vaidyan had known our important classical medicines, such as Chandamarutha Chendooram, Gauri Chinthamani Chendooram, Kala Megha Narayana Chendooram, and Arumuka Chendooram, their preparations, usage as well. With the advent of English Medicine, there was a decline in the 19 and 20 centuries. Now in the 21 century , Siddha Maruthuvam is developing very fast., but most Siddha Vidayans or Graduates are not known correct preparations of such ,due to the break of hirarchy from our forefathers.Keeping this thing in mind, I here-by very vividly and in detail describe the different known preparations, many different types of combinations etc. through this blog.
With great sorrow, I say to Siddha Community that I see now-a-days there are some Jackals (Kurukan or Chennay) among us disguised as sheep and discouraging Siddha Vaidya students and Aspirants, saying that not to use Pazhana Preparations. They say that they are promoters of Siddha Maruthuvam, but really they are destroying our System. They are actually known some preparations of Kudiners or Churnams like Ayurveda People.Beware of such people among us.There are such many in Kanyakumari District and near by Districts. The truth is , really most of them are Varma Massage Practioners , saying in public that they are Siddha Gurus or Siddha Maruthuvar .For one moment I am not thinking that Varma Marutham is inferior to anything or bad. It is one of the branches of Siddha Maruthuvam indeed. It is praiseworthy that the system is growing fast and it has many advantages in Neurology in the near future. These people are not known anything about our Divine System (Devavaidyam).Siddha Maruthuvam is only competent to Modern Medicine. It is said in the past , a Vaidyan who is not known Rasa or Pazhana Preparations are not competent to rescue a patient in a critical condition or from a deadly disease.Acts of such Practioners are very painful.Actually we, Tamil people should bear Siddha Maruthuvam in Our Heart, we should propagate this system. No other people will come to help or to propagate our own system.
Pazhana Preparations are not easier to a common physician. They may often fail in it.Their failure may be the reason to say like that.I appeal all Siddha Community, if one say that not to use chendooram, parpam or chunnam ,our own Heritage , please do not trust such People. They are really destroying our Maruthuvam.
These are the reasons why I am going to describe very vividly different combinations and preparations of Arumuka Chendooram .To encourage Tamil Maruthuvam, the author of this blog is always ready for open debates. II. WHY IS IT CALLED ARUMUKAM
We call a 'Rudraksha Kotta' as 'Oru Muka Rudraksham' (Eka Muka), 'Irandu Mukam' (Duo Muka) and Arumukam according to its Faces. The Arumuka Cendooram is so called because of the Six Components are used to make it.Different Combinations of Arumuka Chendoram too retain the number of raw drugs only as Six.This Chendooram comes under the catagory of 'Erippu Chendooram' as it prepared or kept on fire for about 24 hours.
Another argument of Name is based on 'Lord Subramanya' as He is considered one of the Gurus of Siddha Vaidya Parampara. He is called 'Arumukan' as he is possessing Six Knowleges. Moreover many Parpams and Chendoorams named after the names of Gods and Goddesses of Our Culture.'Panchakshara Chenooram', 'Trimoorthi Chendooram',Sadasiva Chendooram, Thiru Neeelakanta Chendooram , etc..etc...are only some of them.

Texts--Siddha Vaidya Thirattu,
Siddha Formulary of India,
Formulary of Siddha Medicine (impcops)
This is the most accepted Combination in Siddha Maruthuvam. No doubt it is the Most effective method in Curing Many diseases too, but do not grind one by one as said in the above referance texts. Many medicine manufactures too grind one by one as said in the texts.I hereby explain the combination of the above Six Componants.
Suthi seitha Rasam and Suthi seitha Gandhakam are first to be put into a Kalvam (stone mortor) and grind them for 2 1/2 hours and Keep it away the Mixture. Then Clean the Kalvam and dry it well. Then Inthuppu and Venkaram are to be joined and put then into the Kalvam and grind them for 1 hour and Keep the mixture seperately. Clean and dry the Kalvam and put Suthi seitha Ayapodi and Suthi Seitha Kantham into the Kalvam and grind well for 2 and 1/2 hours continuously, then add little by little Rasam and Gandhaka mixture and Kumari Charu for 3 yamam (1 yama=2 1/2 hours). then add induppu and Venkaram mixture little by little with Kumari Charu for 3 yamam.Total grinding hours should be 12 yamam.
Combination method is given as a short cut
1. Ayapodi + Kantham (first)
2.Rasam+ Gandhakam (second)
3.Induppu + Venkaram (third) If you follow this method ,You will get Superior Quality Arumuka Chendooram without any side effects.I advaise all Tamil Maruthuvars to adopt this effective method and Combination.
In the meantime , there are some more Combinations are available in our Maruthuva Nools. So I am describing them too here.
II.COMBINATION --MANOSILAI ADDED METHOD
1.Suthi seitha Aya podi 12 parts = 120 grms
2.Suthi seitha Gandhakam 9 parts = 90 grms
3.Suthi seitha Manosilai 8 parts = 80 grms
4.Suthi seitha Kantham 7 parts = 70 grms
5.Suthi seitha Rasam 5 parts = 50 grms
6.Suthi seitha Induppu 4 parts = 40 grms
Text= Parmparai Vaidyam by Kanna Swamy Pillai
Combination Method--
1. Manosilai to be powdered and keep it away seperately.
2.Rasam + Gandhakam , grind them for 2 and 1/2 hours and keep them seperately.
3.Induppu to be powdered and keep it away seprately.
4.Aya podi and Kantham are joined together and grind for 2 and 1/2 hours.
PROCESS OF GRINDING--
Ok, let us start grinding process. First take Ayapodi + Kantham mixture and put into the Kalvam start grinding using Kumari Charu. During the process add little by little Rasa + Gandhaka mixture into it and continue grinding. Next add Induppu into it, continue grinding using Kumari Charu. Finally add Manosilai powder , little by little and continue the grinding process for 5 days. Anyway 5 days grinding process is necessary for this Chendooram. Otherwise perhaps , you would get less quantity in the final product. Moreover the product may not be superior for usage. The more time You grind the mixture using Kumari Charu, the more result you will get ,indeed.
IMPORTANT NOTE
From my long years of Experience ,I tell you , though this method is Superior, there is much difficulty in doing this.Perhaps you may have noticed absence of "Venkaram" in this Yogam. So the result is the product you would get in the form of Pathangam. But Arumugha Chendooram is not a Pathanga Chendooram ,but 'Tala Chendooram'. If one attempting this method, has to 'Mix the Pathangam with Precipitate obtainig in the Lower pot again' , grind again for 5 days using Kumari Charu and Oxidate again and again. This process should be repeated until you get the Precipitate fully at the Lower Pot. In my experience 7 to 10 Erippu Pudam are needed to get the final Superior Product.
Again some Siddha Pandits say that not to use 'An Arumugha Chendooram contained Manosilai'. It would not be capable of curing deadly diseases. May be, But My opinion is though this yogam contained Manosila, it would work well, because it contains Kantham. From my long years of experience, I say An Arumugha Chendooram does not contain "KANTHAM" will not be a Superior Method, and will not be effective on deadly diseases. There are yogams which are not contained Kantham, so better avoid them.

IV. A DIFFERENT ANBHAVA MURAI ARUMUKA CHENDOORAM
This is a famous Vaidyan's murai. M.S.S Asan (late) of Nagarcoil in His book 'Anubhava Vaidya Kalanchiyam ' deals with this Yogam. Difference is seen only in the 'edai'. All other processes are same of above Yogam.
1.Suthi seitha Aya podi 12 parts (120 grms)
2.Suthi seitha Rasam 8 parts (80 grms)
3.Suthi seitha gandhakam 8 parts (80 grms)
4.Suthi seitha Kantham 8 parts (80 grms)
5.Suthi seitha Venkaram 8 parts (80 grms)
6.Suthi seitha Induppu 8 parts (80 grms)
Sotru Katrazhai Charu ----Thevayana Alavu (sufficient quantity.)
Note---Combination method and Grinding processes are same as above mentioned. So I am not repeating here.
But All these I Advaise Siddha Maruthuvars to adopt the first method, as that is found Most Effective.
IV.METHOD OF PREPARATION OF ARUMUKA CHENDOORAM
Thus mixed , purified Rawdrugs are to be ground well 5 to 7 days using 'sotru katrazhai charu', and finally make as a 'Single Cake'. Do not make small cakes, but make as a Single Vila and dry in the sunlight. When it is dried well, take a wide earthern pot and fill the bottom three inches with 'Katrazhai Choru' (two sides of sotru katrazhai leaves are removed, and the swollen parts are cut into 2 or 3 pieces and fill there) and place the 'Vilai' above it and cover the above portion with 'Katrazhai Choru' again and cover with another pot upside down and make 'Seelamon' seven times and dry well. Then Heat on an Oven for 24 ours in the form of 'Deepagni'. (If you can Heat 72 hours in the form of 'Deepagni, Kamalagni and Gadakni ' ) then allow it to cool. And collect the Cendooram and powder it and store in glass bottle. The color of the Chendooram will be of 'matulampazham'.(If this puda process will be repeated 2 or 3 times, you would get Superior Arumuka Chendooram.)
